THE COLOURS CHOOSE ME copy240 Project and Cafe Art are proud to present 22 pieces of beautiful artworks which span the creative and talented life of John Sheehy. Curated by John himself, together with Richard Todd of 240 Project, his solo exhibition is entitled 'The Colours Choose Me' and is on from Wed 20th Aug until Wed 27th Aug 2014 inclusive at one of our partner Cafes, The House Gallery, located at 70 Camberwell Church Street, London SE5.

He paints with a passionate sense of urgency that is evident in his art, and has exhibited in Germany, Norway, Somerset House, The British Museum and The Royal Academy. His prolific output spans painting, sculpture, printmaking and photography, as well as writing poetry. “Art helps me – it's crucial, necessary; gets me through the day, gets me through the night.  It's a friend to me - a big time friend. I don't observe or research, I'm not aware of any influences. It just happens. Comes through my hand. I don't know what it is when I'm doing it. The colours choose me, mix themselves. The title comes after – sometimes long after. It makes me feel good to give people my paintings - I want them to go, to share my art, for it to find a home; it's not about the money. I enjoy the process, I enjoy the mess - it makes me happy.' So join us and 240 Project in celebrating John's talent. Grab yourself a freshly made cup of latte from David, the Cafe Manager, and enjoy the exhibition! See if you can guess which one is John's first painting which he did back in 1999. Many thanks too to Ray of Light for his selfless help in installing the exhibition, together with John.
