Making the connection between buyer and artist
This, we hope, would create a greater empathy and understanding towards the issues of homelessness, as well as a more meaningful purchase.
Christopher, the artist, with Mr & Mrs Cohen, who bought his artwork at Chameleon Cafe.
A homeless artist/photographer from Broadway London had his photograph of old vintage WWII planes bought by a lovely lady from Watford. He did not want to accept any payment at all.
Instead he told the buyer to donate what she felt the photo was worth to a local homeless charity. This was because for the past 2 winters, he has been on the streets, and on each occassion helped by total trangers. He would like to repay that kindness back to society!
