Ernie's Beach, River Thames. This beach was named after local resident John ‘Ernie’ Hearn, who campaigned for the recognition of the Thames as an asset and amenity of London. Paul said: “I went looking for the mudlarks, people waiting for things to be washed ashore from the River Thames, but this particular day I saw not just mud larks but families on that beach. We also had people making a face [out of the] sand and people could throw money to them. It just happened to be one of those days really. It was a good day.”
