We have had a good start thanks to early orders. It helps a lot - by encouraging other people to support the project. As I have mentioned before - the calendar and cards are able to help many more people than the initial photographers in the calendar, as we will be helping people sell calendars.
Speaking of those photographers: in the video you will see a few new faces.
One of them is Kevin Wood who lives in a hostel run by SHP and he got an amazing three photos in the top 25, with one in the calendar. His story of taking a photo of someone's trousers is moving and I am glad we included it in the promotional film.
Also in the video is Wayne Chin (pictured above handing out cameras at the camera handout day), who was a photographer in the 2024 calendar (the June photo of the rainbow mural). Wayne has been involved with our photography mentoring group for several years now. He has had mental health issues for several years now and he told me he has benefited from the project by learning photography.
The filmmakers Tom Sweetman and Tom Sales are making a documentary focusing on Wayne and it's going to be ready in time for the physical launch of the calendar in early October. Clips from that documentary are included in the promotional film.
The calendar itself is now ready to send to the printers. It looks amazing. The new small size of the calendar is only 6" x 6" (150mm x 150mm). Yes that's tiny - but we hope that there will be a demand for something that small - either to hang in a small space, or to carry around. We have made the day numbers the same as the desktop calendar so not too hard to read.
Thanks again - we will keep you posted on the crowdfunder in a week or so.
